VINTASY Authentication Process

Every piece of vintage jewelry carries the design, craftsmanship, and signs of use from its respective era.

VINTASY does not judge items solely based on brand hallmarks, packaging, or seller descriptions. From sourcing and platform inspections to cross-border shipping and post-arrival physical verification, we examine every item step-by-step. Only items that pass our entire process are officially listed and sold in our store.

Japan's Large-Scale Professional Sourcing Partner

One of VINTASY's largest sourcing partners in Japan is AUCNET Brand Auction.

AUCNET is a major Japanese business-to-business online auction platform for vintage luxury goods, specializing in pre-owned luxury handbags, watches, jewelry, accessories, and precious metals. The platform brings together over 6,000 Japanese and international businesses, offering tens of thousands of auction items every week.

Auction items undergo physical inspection, authenticity assessment, condition grading, and photography by AUCNET specialists according to established rules, allowing professional buyers to understand item details before bidding.

VINTASY Six-Step Authentication Process

01|Sourcing from Professional Channels

The VINTASY team selects items through professional Japanese channels such as AUCNET. When selecting, we consider not only the brand and style but also era-specific characteristics, item condition, hallmarks, accessories, dimensions, signs of repair, and the inspection data provided by the platform.

02|Preliminary Inspection at the Auction House

Before an item enters an auction, it is inspected and condition-graded by platform specialists. Evaluations may include brand characteristics, appearance, hardware, hallmarks, materials, construction, signs of use, and noticeable flaws. The platform also takes detailed photographs of the items to assist us in making informed decisions before bidding.

03|VINTASY Team Screening

Even after an item has been inspected by the auction platform, we do not rely solely on a single report. VINTASY conducts further screening based on product images, data, design features, historical accuracy, and past experience. If information is insufficient, details are questionable, or the item condition does not meet our standards, we will refrain from bidding.

04|Weekly Shipping from Japan to Hong Kong

Successfully purchased items are shipped from Japan to Hong Kong in weekly batches. Upon arrival, we verify the item details, quantity, appearance, and accessories to ensure the physical goods match the auction records, and we document any conditions that may have arisen during transit.

05|Physical Verification by Hong Kong Appraisers

Once each item arrives in Hong Kong, it must be personally examined by a VINTASY appraiser. The verification scope includes:

  • Brand hallmarks, typography, and alignment
  • Hardware, clasps, welding, and assembly craftsmanship
  • Materials, weight, plating, and surface treatment
  • Logos, proportions, and design details
  • Alignment of era, collection, and production characteristics
  • Signs of oxidation, scratches, repairs, or modifications
  • Consistency between the physical item and the original auction data

Authentication is not just about looking at a logo or hallmark; it is a judgment based on a synthesis of source, craftsmanship, construction, materials, era, and overall product details.

06|Official Listing After Approval

Only items that have completed platform inspection, cross-border verification, and VINTASY's physical re-examination will proceed to cleaning, photography, data entry, and official listing.

If inconsistencies in information, questionable details, or insufficient grounds for judgment are discovered during inspection, the item will not be listed for sale and will be scheduled for further verification or withdrawn.

Authenticity and Item Condition Are Two Different Things

Vintage items may show normal signs of use, such as minor scratches, oxidation, changes in plating, or the passage of time. These conditions do not equate to authenticity issues; rather, they are a unique part of the history of vintage goods.

VINTASY strives to reflect the actual condition through product images and descriptions. Before purchasing, customers are welcome to contact us for more photos or visit our Central Market store to view and try on items in person.

Shop with Confidence and Understand the Provenance of Every Piece

We believe that collectible vintage jewelry should not only be beautiful, but also have clear provenance, reliable data, and details that stand up to scrutiny.

From professional Japanese auctions to the final verification by our Hong Kong appraisers, VINTASY aims to ensure that every piece of jewelry shaped by time can be confidently passed on to the next person who will cherish it.
